Running Google Ads Yourself — and When Not to Advertise
Advertising amplifies what you have. If what you have does not sell, you have amplified the loss — so this starts with four conditions, and half of those who read them find they do not need it yet.

Overview
Most people who try advertising stop after a month and say it did not work. In most cases the advertising was not the problem — it was switched on before it could mean anything. So this course opens with four conditions to meet before you spend, and a full section on when not to advertise at all, whose most honest case is that your offer does not sell without it.
Then it does the arithmetic almost nobody does: what one customer is worth to you, and therefore the most you can pay for a click. That figure becomes the compass — every later decision, which keyword to stop and when to raise the budget, is measured against it. And it cites no benchmark at all: not what I spend, not a “usual” cost per click, not a “good” conversion rate, because your figure is what decides and someone else’s comfortable average does not help you.
And it explains no interface buttons. Screens change every few months and any description of where a button sits becomes a source of error within a year. What does not change is what you learn: what you are actually buying, how to exclude what you do not want, what happens after the click, how the result is measured, and when to stop.

Questions, answered
Will it tell me whether to advertise at all?
That is what the first two lessons are for, and they are written to lose the sale if the answer is no. Lesson one gives four conditions and three cases where you should not advertise — the most honest being that your offer does not sell without it, since advertising does not repair an offer, it shows it to more people. Lesson two turns it into arithmetic: compute what a customer is worth to you and therefore the most you can pay for a click, and if that limit sits far below the real cost, the remedy is a higher margin, narrower keywords or a better page — never a larger budget. Deciding to stop is not a failure; continuing without computing is.
Why does it not show me the screens?
Because the screens change every few months, and any detailed description of where a button sits becomes a source of error within a year — the same constraint the Local SEO book holds. This course is built on what does not change: what you are actually buying, how matching behaves at its three degrees regardless of what the names become, how the exclusion list works, why the page after the click decides the result, and how to know whether you are profiting. It will still be correct after every screen has changed. If you need to find a particular button, the platform’s own help is current and free; what it will not tell you is whether you should be spending at all.
I already pay someone to run my ads. Is this useful?
Yes, and lesson seven is written for exactly that. It gives four conditions that protect you: the account must be in your name — an account in the manager’s name means starting from zero and losing your whole history if they leave — the search terms report must reach you rather than a designed summary, they are held to conversions rather than clicks, and they explain what they changed and why in two lines monthly. The rest of the course makes those four meaningful, so you can read the same numbers they read. It makes you able to hold them to account even if you never touch the account yourself.
Can I really measure where every customer came from?
No, and lesson six says so plainly: you will not know the source of every customer, a gap remains whatever you do, and whoever promises complete measurement is selling you an illusion. Someone sees your advert, calls a week later from a number you never recorded, or simply walks in. What is in your power is two things: asking “where did you hear of us” at the enquiry, and comparing the trend of your total enquiries against the same period last year rather than last month. The two together are more accurate than either alone — and if the advertising claims a great deal while nobody mentions hearing of you through it, review what you are counting.
How is it different from the SEO books?
Those are about appearing for free; this is about buying the appearance. The difference is that one you build over months and it remains, and the other starts today and stops today. Lesson three gives the combination almost nobody uses: run paid search to learn which phrases actually sell, then build your free visibility on those same phrases — so the advertising becomes a funded search for the road rather than a permanent expense. Page speed and the technical causes stay in the Technical SEO book, and how Arabic is really typed in search stays in Local SEO chapter nine; this course names both and moves on.
