01 — Overview

Overview

I build the systems that replace spreadsheets — which makes my first sentence surprising: in most cases where I am called in to build one, a well-built spreadsheet would have been enough, at a fraction of the cost.

So this is not a course about five hundred functions. You will use about fifteen. It is about the few things that make the difference: the shape of the table before the formulas, linking tables by code, pivots, and protection against the silent breakage that gives no error message.

And it carries what no translated source has: the Arabic argument separator that makes copied formulas fail, and the spelling variation in Arabic names that splits one customer into two records.

02 — What you will learn

What you will learn

Reference tables and codes, XLOOKUP, and the VLOOKUP trap that returns a wrong number silently

PivotTables and slicers: from a thousand rows to a decision in a minute

Cleaning imported data in the right order — and the Arabic problems no foreign source covers

Protecting the file, sharing it correctly, and building a dashboard that answers real questions

06 — Questions, answered

Questions, answered

Is this for beginners or advanced users?

It assumes no prior experience, and it is not a beginner course in the usual sense either. It skips the tour of the ribbon and goes to what actually breaks files in real businesses. Someone who has used Excel for years will still find the reference-table split and the silent-breakage lesson new.

Does it work for Google Sheets?

Yes. Everything in it applies to both except where flagged explicitly, and lesson one has a comparison to help you choose. The concepts — table shape, separating data from reports, linking by code, pivots — are identical.

Will it try to sell me a system?

It argues the opposite. Lesson one lists four situations where a spreadsheet beats a system, and a middle road of cheaper steps to take before considering one. The closing line is that if your model now works, you have saved a large sum and have no need of me.

How do I pay and get access?
