Instagram Advertising: From Boosting to Advertising

How much did you spend on the boost button last year? And the second question matters more: what do you know today that you did not know a year ago?

Lesson 1 / 8

The Boost Button: What Exactly Did You Buy

By the end of this lesson you will be able to:

How much did you spend on the boost button last year?

And the second question matters more: what do you know today that you did not know a year ago?

And if the answer is "nothing"this course is written for you.

The rule

**Boosting buys reach. Advertising buys a result. And the difference shows in the third month, not the
first.**

In the first month they look alikeyou pay, your post reaches more people, and the numbers rise.

And in the third month they part: whoever advertises knows who buys from them and from which content

and whoever boosts is repeating the first month for the third time.

Who this course is for

And who it is not for, and I will say it before you continue:

It is for you if you: **sell from your account, boost your posts with the boost button, take your orders

in the direct messages, and have no website or online storewhich is how most people selling on

Instagram in Jordan and around it work**.

And it is not for you if you: **already open the ads manager, and know the difference between a campaign

and an ad setgo straight to "Meta Advertising: The Ads Manager", which is deeper and wider, and this

course stops at its door**.

And do not buy both togetherstart with one.

Three numbers that rise, and one that does not

When you boost, three rise:

Reachhow many people saw it.

Engagementlikes and comments.

Followerssome of them.

And the fourth does not necessarily rise: money.

And the first three are enjoyableseen at once, and they make you feel something is happening.

And the fourth is slowand does not appear on the screen you are looking at.

And the rule: what does not become money is not a result ← **it is a signal, and it may be a false

one**.

What the button decided for you

Four decisions taken without asking you:

1. What it asks people to dousually to engage or visit your accountnot to buy.

2. Who it showsusually people resembling your followers ← **and your followers are not necessarily

your buyers**.

3. Where it appearson surfaces you did not choose.

4. In what structure results are comparedin noneso no comparison, and no learning.

And the fourth is the most dangerous ← **the first three can be right by accident, and the fourth stops

you knowing when you were right**.

What the manager gives you — in plain language

And I will not use a term without explaining it:

Saying what you wanta message, an enquiry, or a visitinstead of it being chosen for you.

And saying to whomby the place you actually deliver to, not by who resembles your followers.

And trying two images and knowing which is betterand this alone is worth crossing over for.

And advertising without postingnot every advert has to be a post on your account.

And the fourth surprises peopleand frees your content from being all adverts.

When not to advertise at all

The most honest thing in the lesson:

Advertising delivers, and selling happens afterwards ← **so if your account does not say what you sell,

or nobody answered the messages, or an item ran out and was never updatedyou are paying to deliver

people to a closed door**.

And the four conditions preceding any advertising — **having something to buy, people knowing how to buy

it, knowing what you make on a sale, and being able to sustain the spend for two monthsare in

"Running Google Ads Yourself", lesson one**.

And a fifth condition specific to this place: having someone who answers.

Selling here happens in a conversation ← **and whoever cannot answer within hours has bought themselves

frustration** (lesson four).

What this course does not do

I will not explain the interface buttons. Screens change every few months ← **and what does not

change is that an advert is a decision you own or one taken for you**.

And I will not state an amount or a rate ← **what works for someone selling clothes does not work for

someone selling sweets**.

And I will not teach you to grow your followers ← **followers are not money, and this is an advertising

course, not a growth course**.

Action steps

  1. Write the rule: boosting buys reach and advertising buys a result.
  2. Write what you spent on boosting last year.
  3. Write what you learned from it — honestly.
  4. Decide: is this your course? ← if you open the manager, go to the Meta course.
  5. Write the four decisions the button took for you.
  6. Ask: do I have someone who answers the messages?
  7. Read the four conditions in "Running Google Ads Yourself".
  8. Stop reading followers as a measure of success.
